About this website
This website is published by Dr Tevin Naidu, a medical doctor registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). It describes his work, his podcast, Mind-Body Solution, and his public speaking.
Dr Naidu consults as a medical practitioner at practices that are owned by others. He does not own those practices. Appointments, fees, billing, medical records, and the privacy and confidentiality of patient information are the responsibility of the practice where you are seen, not of this website.
This page is updated when the arrangements it describes change.
Medical disclaimer
This website, and the podcast, talks, articles and social media content linked from it, are published for general information and education. They are not medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and they are not a substitute for a consultation with a doctor who knows your history.
Reading this site, listening to an episode or sending an email does not create a doctor and patient relationship. That relationship begins only when you are seen as a patient by Dr Naidu at a practice where he consults.
Health information changes, and general information cannot account for your circumstances. Not every approach suits every person, individual results vary, and no outcome is promised. Where health information appears on this site it is based on recognised sources, listed where relevant, but guidelines change and can differ between countries. Always speak to a registered healthcare practitioner before acting on anything you read or hear here, and never delay or disregard professional advice because of something published on this site.
This website does not offer online or remote consultations, diagnosis, prescriptions or sick notes.
In an emergency: call 10177 for an ambulance, or 112 from a mobile phone, or go directly to your nearest emergency room. Do not use this website, the contact email addresses or social media to seek urgent or emergency care.
Podcast and public content
Guests on the Mind-Body Solution podcast speak for themselves. Their views are their own and do not represent clinical advice, an endorsement, or the position of any practice, employer or institution associated with Dr Tevin Naidu.
Episode descriptions, chapter titles and any transcripts are provided for convenience and may contain errors. Please check a quotation against the recording. If something is misquoted, or you would like a correction or removal, email info [at] drtevinnaidu [dot] com.
Privacy policy
This policy explains how personal information is handled on drtevinnaidu.com, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Dr Tevin Naidu is the responsible party for information collected through this website. Dr Tevin Naidu is also the Information Officer for this website, and can be contacted at info [at] drtevinnaidu [dot] com.
This website does not collect health or patient information. If you are a patient, the information you give at a practice is held by that practice, which is the responsible party for its patient records and handles them under its own privacy notice and the confidentiality duties that apply to medical records. Ask the practice for its privacy notice. This policy covers this website only.
What is collected
- Correspondence. If you email an address published on this site, we receive whatever you choose to include: usually your name, email address and the content of your message. Please do not send health information by email. Clinical matters belong with the practice where you are, or want to be, seen, and health information sent to this address may be deleted unread.
- Technical information. Standard server information such as approximate location, browser type, referring page and pages viewed, from the website host’s server logs. It is used only to understand how the site is used and to keep it secure.
- Visit statistics. Each time a page loads, the page address, the address of the page you came from (if any) and the size of your browser window are sent to Metricool, a website and social media analytics service used by our social media team, Bloom Collective SA. As with any web request, Metricool also receives your IP address and browser type. No cookies are set and nothing is saved on your device. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is sent.
- Public information about podcast guests. Episode pages publish the names, professional details and public links of people who took part in the recorded conversations. To ask for a correction or removal, email the address above.
How it is used
To reply to your enquiry, and to understand and improve how the site is used. Correspondence is processed because you chose to send it; visit statistics are processed in the legitimate interest of understanding which pages are useful, and you can object at any time. Your information is not sold, rented or traded, and it is not used for automated decision-making, profiling or advertising. This site has no sign-up form or mailing list, and does not send marketing messages.
Who it is shared with
Only with the service providers needed to run the site, and only to the extent they need it to provide their service: the website host (Netlify), and Metricool, which provides the visit statistics described above to us and to Bloom Collective SA, our social media team. Where you load the embedded Spotify player, or press play on an episode video, your browser also contacts Spotify or YouTube directly, and they then handle that interaction under their own privacy policies. Information may also be disclosed if the law requires it.
Information sent outside South Africa
Our website host and Metricool process information outside South Africa. Metricool is based in Spain, so its processing falls under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, which gives protection comparable to POPIA. Information is sent only to providers that publish their own data-protection commitments and only to the extent needed to provide the service.
How it is protected
The site is served only over an encrypted connection, has no forms, accounts or database, and runs no third-party code. Access to the site’s hosting and analytics accounts is limited to the people who need it to run the site. Service providers receive only what they need and are expected to protect it under their own security and privacy obligations. If personal information held for this website were accessed or acquired without authority in a way that put people at risk, the Information Regulator and the people affected would be told, as POPIA requires.
How long it is kept
Correspondence is kept only for as long as needed to deal with the matter it relates to, and is then deleted. Visit statistics are kept by Metricool for as long as they are needed for reporting, under Metricool’s own terms.
Your rights under POPIA
- Ask what personal information is held about you, and request a copy.
- Ask that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected, or that information be deleted.
- Object to your information being processed.
- Withdraw consent at any time to any processing based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To exercise any of these, email info [at] drtevinnaidu [dot] com.
The Information Regulator takes complaints through its eServices Portal at inforegulator.org.za. Its general enquiries address is enquiries@inforegulator.org.za, and its telephone numbers are 010 023 5200 and 0800 017 160 (toll free). Its office is at Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191.
This site is not directed at children under 18, and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies of its own, uses no advertising trackers, and saves nothing to your device. The visit statistics described above are sent without cookies or browser storage.
One exception is worth knowing about. The podcast section embeds a player provided by Spotify. That player is loaded from Spotify’s own servers, and once it loads Spotify may set cookies and use browser storage on your device under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. The player is set to load only when you scroll down to it, so if you never reach the podcast section it is never requested and Spotify receives nothing about your visit.
Episode pages show a still image of each video. The video itself is loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you press play, so if you never press play YouTube receives nothing about your visit. Once a video is playing, YouTube may use browser storage on your device under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
Episode images and the typefaces used on this site are served from this website rather than from YouTube or a font provider, so simply viewing a page does not contact either of them. Links to YouTube, Spotify and other platforms only contact those services if you choose to click them.
Terms of use
Content and copyright
The text, images, design and other material on this site belong to Dr Tevin Naidu unless stated otherwise, and may not be reproduced or republished for commercial purposes without permission. You are welcome to share links to it, and to quote short passages with attribution. Episode titles, descriptions and thumbnails describe episodes of the Mind-Body Solution podcast; the recordings, and any material that belongs to a guest, remain the property of their owners.
Third-party names, logos and marks
Names, logos and marks of other organisations, including the practices where Dr Naidu consults, broadcasters, publishers and platforms, belong to their respective owners. They appear on this site only to identify the organisation concerned, and do not imply endorsement or a formal affiliation unless that is stated. Those practices are independent of this website and Dr Naidu does not speak for them. Guests named on the podcast appear as guests only.
Professional information
Qualifications and professional statements on this site are given in good faith and are kept accurate. You can confirm the registration of any South African health practitioner with the HPCSA at hpcsa.co.za.
Accuracy
The site is kept as accurate and current as reasonably possible, but no warranty is given that it is complete, current or free of error. Addresses, hours and telephone numbers of practices are provided by those practices and may change, so please confirm them with the practice. Content may change or be removed without notice.
Links to other sites
Links to podcast platforms, practices, Google listings and social media are provided for convenience. Those sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Corrections and removal
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, or concerns you and should be corrected or removed, email info [at] drtevinnaidu [dot] com with the page address and what you would like changed.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Dr Tevin Naidu is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this site or reliance on its general content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
These terms and the policies above may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and the page is reviewed at least once a year.
Governing law
This site, these terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
Patients and complaints
Patients have rights to respectful care, to information about their health and treatment, to confidentiality and to make a complaint. These are set out in the National Health Act and the Patients’ Rights Charter.
If you have a concern about care you received, raise it first with the practice where you were seen, which is responsible for its patient care and records. You may also complain about the professional conduct of a registered practitioner to the HPCSA (hpcsa.co.za), and about a health establishment to the Office of the Health Ombud at the Office of Health Standards Compliance (ohsc.org.za).
For a concern about this website, email info [at] drtevinnaidu [dot] com.
